Denmark’s Food Nation recently hosted a Global Food Talk with FAO’s Chief Economist, Maximo Torero, exploring how partnerships and systemic coordination can reduce food loss and waste across global value chains.
In her LinkedIn commentary, Irma Kuperman-Davar, Executive Director of the Israel–Sweden Chamber of Commerce, reflects on the deeper meaning behind the discussion — arguing that food loss is not a production problem but a coordination challenge, and that reframing it as a climate policy could reshape global sustainability strategy.
She writes:
“When food loss is treated as a climate issue rather than a logistics failure, the map changes. Suddenly, the cheapest climate intervention is not a carbon tax or a new technology—it is better orchestration.”
Her reflection builds on the Chamber’s broader commitment to the Nordic–Israeli dialogue on sustainability and systemic innovation — bridging policy, capital, and science across the region.
