Sweden’s Cashless Paradox: Innovation and Resilience

Sweden’s Cashless Paradox: Innovation and Resilience

Sweden has long been seen as a model for seamless digital transformation.
With over 90% of transactions now fully digital, the country has become a global symbol of cashless efficiency.
But as hybrid threats and cyber risks intensify, even Sweden is learning that not everything digital is truly resilient.

In her recent LinkedIn commentary, Irma Kuperman Davar, Founder and Executive Director of the Israel–Sweden Chamber of Commerce, reflects on the paradox behind Sweden’s success story and the lessons it holds for countries like Israel, where innovation often develops under constant uncertainty.

She writes:

“Technology that protects itself is not a trend. It’s the next strategic layer of innovation.”

This reflection also connects to the Chamber’s upcoming Nordic–Israeli Showcase on AI and Cybersecurity in Fintech (Q1 2026), which will feature Israeli companies presenting applied solutions for financial institutions across the Nordic region.
