Swedish Incubator Program Supporting Startup Success

Vinnova is Sweden’s innovation agency whose mission is to strengthen Sweden’s innovative capacity and contribute to sustainable growth, working to ensure that Sweden is an innovative force in a sustainable world.

Vinnova’s National Incubator Program (NIP) is an integral part of Sweden’s strategy to promote innovation and business development by providing start-ups with the support they need to grow and succeed. The program supports over 30 regional innovation environments across the country.

About the program

The national incubator program provides startups with the support and assistance they need in the form of resources, networks, and capital. This year, the program is celebrating 20 years of helping companies move from startup to scale. The national incubator program is run in partnership with Sweden’s industry organization, Sweden’s Incubators and Science Parks (SISP).

With a strong culture of cooperation, the program spans across Sweden, from Skåne to Norrland, supporting over 30 regional innovation environments throughout the country.

  • The incubator program identifies and supports companies with innovative ideas and a strong drive to succeed. Through this investment, entrepreneurship in Sweden continues to develop, driving the economic engine that forms the foundation of future business life.

  • “Companies that have participated in the incubator program are often seen as attractive to investors, as the foundations for sustainable growth are deeply embedded in their development,” says Carl Naumburg, program manager for the incubator program at Vinnova.

“By investing in co-creation, joint learning, and equality, the incubator program has strengthened Sweden’s capacity for innovation and renewal. The incubators foster a collaborative culture around startup companies, which is one of Sweden’s greatest strengths in innovation,” says Stina Lantz, CEO at SISP.
